BETADIST function

Returns the cumulative beta probability density function. The beta distribution is commonly used to study variation in the percentage of something across samples, such as the fraction of the day people spend watching television.

Syntax

BETADIST(x, alpha, beta, [A], [B])

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
xYesRequired. The value between A and B at which to evaluate the function.2
alphaYesRequired. A parameter of the distribution.8
betaYesRequired. A parameter of the distribution.10
ANoOptional. A lower bound to the interval of x.1
BNoOptional. An upper bound to the interval of x.3

Try BETADIST

Read the legacy BETADIST function name

=BETADIST(A2,B2,C2)

BETADIST is the compatibility name corresponding to BETA.DIST. For Beta(2,2) on [0,1], the CDF is 3*x^2-2*x^3. At x=0.25 it is 0.15625. TRUE requests probability up to x, not density at x. Use the modern name when creating a new formula; the old spelling is useful when reading existing workbooks.

BETADIST · top-level call

=BETADIST(A2,B2,C2)

1 / 3 · x

Required. The value between A and B at which to evaluate the function.
