CHISQ.TEST function

Returns the test for independence

Syntax

CHISQ.TEST(actual_range, expected_range)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
actual_rangeYesThe range of data that contains observations to test against expected values.A1:A4
expected_rangeYesThe range of data that contains the ratio of the product of row totals and column totals to the grand total.B1:B4

Try CHISQ.TEST

Compare a two-way observed table with expected counts

=CHISQ.TEST(A2:B3,D2:E3)

The four contributions total (4+4+4+4)/10=1.6. With (2-1)*(2-1)=1 degree of freedom, the right-tail probability is about 0.205903211. This is a test p-value under the stated count model, not the probability that a hypothesis is true.
