Inspect the print preview without submitting a print job
In a disposable workbook, put Team and Hours in A1:B1 with Cedar/8 and Harbor/5 below. Save unrelated work before opening the print interface.
Start here: Desktop Excel workbook; the Windows Print/Preview surface or the documented Mac Print menu
Do not confirm a Print button. Printer setup and page layout affect the preview. Ctrl+F2 has conflicting current documentation and is not an accepted answer here.
Follow these instructions in your own desktop Excel workbook. This page explains the operation; it does not send commands to Excel.
Mac menu and context
The publisher explicitly states that modern Windows Ctrl+P opens the same Print/Preview surface; Microsoft documents that workflow. The historical Ctrl+F2 key is withheld. Mac uses a separately sourced menu method.
This operation uses a documented menu workflow. No keyboard combination is certified here; key recall is unavailable.

Walk through the operation
- Choose File > Print to open the Mac Print dialog for the intended worksheet.
- Inspect the preview area and use its page arrows if more than one page is available.
- Choose Cancel to return without sending a print job.
Instruction 1 of 3: Choose File > Print to open the Mac Print dialog for the intended worksheet.
Expected result: The print layout can be inspected while all cell values remain unchanged and no print job is submitted.
