Find the intended cells before replacing them

Preview text, formula source and selected format properties across a range, sheet or workbook. Preserve original records and inspect linked calculations.

  1. Select Records!F2 and capture its find format. Keep bold and fill selected. Select H7 and capture its replacement format.
  2. Find whole text old in Records!F2:F7, case insensitive. Replace with Approved and the sampled green regular format. Preview should select exactly the two intended states.
  3. Turn off both format samples. Search formula source in Records!E2:E7, turn off Whole cell, and replace literal *1 with *1.1. Keep wildcards off for literal asterisks.
  4. Check all records and the linked Audit, then inspect one-action Undo/Redo and both current workbook copies.

Text mode searches literal strings only. Numeric/Boolean cells, actual errors and formula result text are separate; formula mode edits written formulas. Wildcards use leftmost longest nonoverlapping matches; replacements are literal and are not rescanned. Styled blanks can match format-only searches. Existing array/merged/rich-text replacement targets are withheld. New formula errors remain visible for inspection and recovery. All worksheet data stays in this browser; native Excel Find dialogs and edit/save are separate.
