Navigate and select a divided inventory

Work through 75 source records in a 100-row worksheet. One genuinely blank row separates Receiving and Reserve. Column B includes a stored zero at B18; the blank B32 has a number format, which does not make it data.

Read the actual selection

No actual selection

B32 is blank; format General. A number format does not fill a blank cell.

Windows Excel uses Ctrl+Arrow and Ctrl+Shift+Arrow. Mac Excel uses Command+Arrow and Command+Shift+Arrow. In this browser lab, focus the pad first; the same controls call the native worksheet commands. Browser or operating-system interception can prevent a shortcut, so the buttons remain available. What to inspect
  1. From B2, jump down to B31, across the separator to B33, then to B77. Jump up to B33.
  2. From B44, select the current region. It is A33:D77, including all four fields.
  3. From B2, extend down three times. Keep the B2 anchor: B2:B31, B2:B33, then B2:B77. The final selection includes 76 physical rows but only 75 numeric quantities.
  4. Try other starts or edit a gap with the entry controls. New source contents change the boundary and invalidate the supplied exercise until restored.

Calculate what you selected

Author the five formulas below in column H. The lists stay separate; the complete range includes the blank row. ROWS explicitly uses the shown B2:B77 range.

CellFormula to authorActual formulaStored result
H2=SUM(B2:B31)Not entered
H3=SUM(B33:B77)Not entered

Observed native actions

Address entry alone does not add a native navigation observation. These operations must preserve source cells, formats and workbook history.

    Sources and transient observations stay in this tab. Downloads include every original record and the current complete report. Workbook copies and native browser actions do not certify desktop key interception or native Excel edit/save.
