Copy or move worksheets between independent workbooks

Carry both the order lines and their rate dependency into a different workbook. Inspect names and references. Copying retains the original sheets; moving removes them after creating the destination. Change the destination inputs and check its linked report. All data stays in this browser tab.

Choose the destination workbook

Create a new empty Report without replacing the source. Both destination contents stay in this tab until reset or privacy clearing. Switching restarts destination history and checks. Recover a paired move before switching; its recovered source history also restarts.

1. Identify dependencies

Order lines uses Rate card. The target already has a different Rate card; silently binding to its namesake would change every amount. Copy both under distinct target names.

Source workbook

Copying leaves this workbook intact. Moving removes the selected sheets only after their destination is created. Active worksheet: Order lines.

Existing Rate card is unrelated and must remain intact. Active worksheet: Report.

Keep another source worksheet

Create a source worksheet and enter a note using the cell controls. Move the order bundle and inspect what remains. A note can stay; a formula that still depends on the moved bundle must travel with it or keep a copy instead.

Choose and preview a worksheet transfer

A move keeps live formulas and transfers their selected dependencies. Remaining source formulas must not depend on the moved bundle; this lab does not replace those dependencies with external workbook links. The move joins both histories: undo later cell edits first, then Undo the move restores both books together.

Keep formulas to recalculate against explicitly copied dependencies, or make a separate fixed-values copy. This operation copies cells and their supported formats, merges, dimensions and visibility. Absolute names, constants and named LAMBDAs can travel with their dependencies. Tables, charts, validations, external links and live spill groups need their own transfer workflows.

Destination history: 0 undo / 0 redo.

Keep the current workbooks

Downloads create separate complete source and destination files. Formula copies retain local worksheet links; fixed copies contain current typed results. Recheck after edits or history changes. They do not create an external live link between files.
