BETA.DIST function

Returns the beta cumulative distribution function

Syntax

BETA.DIST(x, alpha, beta, cumulative, [A], [B])

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
xYesThe value between A and B at which to evaluate the function.2
alphaYesA parameter of the distribution.8
betaYesA parameter of the distribution.10
cumulativeYesA logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, BETA.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true
ANoA lower bound to the interval of x.1
BNoAn upper bound to the interval of x.3

Try BETA.DIST

Find a beta-distribution cumulative probability

=BETA.DIST(A2,B2,C2,TRUE)

For Beta(2,2) on [0,1], the CDF is 3*x^2-2*x^3. At x=0.25 it is 0.15625. TRUE requests probability up to x, not density at x.

BETA.DIST · top-level call

=BETA.DIST(A2,B2,C2,TRUE)

1 / 4 · x

The value between A and B at which to evaluate the function.
