F.DIST function

Returns the F probability distribution

Syntax

F.DIST(x, deg_freedom1, deg_freedom2, cumulative)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
xYesThe value at which to evaluate the function.15.2069
deg_freedom1YesThe numerator degrees of freedom.6
deg_freedom2YesThe denominator degrees of freedom.4
cumulativeYesA logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, F.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true

Try F.DIST

Find an F-distribution left-tail probability

=F.DIST(A2,B2,C2,TRUE)

For F(2,2), the CDF is x/(1+x). At x=3 the left-tail probability is 3/4.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

Read the formula, one argument at a time

Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.

F.DIST · top-level call

=F.DIST(A2,B2,C2,TRUE)

1 / 4 · x

The value at which to evaluate the function.
