F.INV function

Returns the inverse of the F probability distribution

Syntax

F.INV(probability, deg_freedom1, deg_freedom2)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
probabilityYesA probability associated with the F cumulative distribution.0.01
deg_freedom1YesThe numerator degrees of freedom.6
deg_freedom2YesThe denominator degrees of freedom.4

Try F.INV

Recover an F cutoff from a left-tail area

=F.INV(A2,B2,C2)

For F(2,2), solving x/(1+x)=0.75 gives x=3. The inverse takes a probability and returns a nonnegative statistic.

F.INV · top-level call

=F.INV(A2,B2,C2)
