F.TEST function

Returns the result of an F-test

Syntax

F.TEST(array1, array2)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
array1YesThe first array or range of data.A1:A4
array2YesThe second array or range of data.B1:B4

Try F.TEST

Compare samples with the same observed variance

=F.TEST(A2:A5,B2:B5)

Adding a constant to every observation changes the mean but not the variance. These two samples have equal sample variances, so the two-sided variance-test p-value is 1. That does not prove the population variances are identical.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.
