IMCOS function

Returns the cosine of a complex number

Syntax

IMCOS(inumber)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
inumberYesA complex number for which you want the cosine."1+i"

Try IMCOS

Read both coefficients of IMCOS for a complex input

=HSTACK(IMREAL(IMCOS(A2)),IMAGINARY(IMCOS(A2)))

For z=0.7-0.4i, cos(x+iy)=cos(x)cosh(y)-i sin(x)sinh(y). G2 contains the real coefficient and H2 the imaginary coefficient; together they describe the complex result. Trigonometric arguments and phase use radians. Change either coefficient in the input text to explore another value. Logarithms use their principal branch; reciprocals require a nonzero denominator.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

Read the formula, one argument at a time

Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.
