LOGEST function
Returns the parameters of an exponential trend
Syntax
LOGEST(known_y's, [known_x's], [const], [stats])Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| known_y's | Yes | The set of y-values you already know in the relationship y = b*m^x.B2:B7 |
| known_x's | No | The set of x-values you already know in the relationship y = b*m^x.A2:A7 |
| const | No | A logical value specifying whether to force the constant b to equal 1.true |
| stats | No | A logical value specifying whether to return additional regression statistics.true |
Try LOGEST
Return an exponential multiplier and scale
=LOGEST(C2:C5,A2:A5)These points follow y=1*2^x. LOGEST returns the per-unit multiplier 2 and the scale 1 across two cells. Its y-values must be positive.
Inspect the current formula

LOGEST · top-level call
=LOGEST(C2:C5,A2:A5)1 / 2 · known_y's
The set of y-values you already know in the relationship y = b*m^x.
