NORM.DIST function

Returns the normal cumulative distribution

Syntax

NORM.DIST(x, mean, standard_dev, cumulative)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
xYesThe value for which you want the distribution.42
meanYesThe arithmetic mean of the distribution.40
standard_devYesThe standard deviation of the distribution.1.5
cumulativeYesA logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, NORM.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true

Try NORM.DIST

Find normal density one deviation above the mean

=NORM.DIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)

The observation is one standard deviation above mean 8. FALSE returns density EXP(-1/2)/(2*SQRT(2*PI())), rather than the cumulative probability.

Inspect the current formula

NORM.DIST · top-level call

=NORM.DIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)

1 / 4 · x

The value for which you want the distribution.
