SKEW.P function

Returns the skewness of a distribution based on a population

Syntax

SKEW.P(number1, [number2])

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
number1YesThe first number, cell reference, or range for which you want the skewness.A1:C3
number2No · repeatsAdditional numbers, cell references or ranges for which you want the skewness, up to a maximum of 255.4

Try SKEW.P

Measure distribution shape with SKEW.P

=SKEW.P(A2:A5)

For the whole population, mean 3 gives average squared deviation 3.5 and average cubed deviation 4.5. Divide the latter by 3.5^(3/2). The high value 6 makes this sample asymmetric.
