BINOM.DIST function
Returns the individual term binomial distribution probability
Syntax
BINOM.DIST(number_s, trials, probability_s, cumulative)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| number_s | Yes | The number of successes in trials.6 |
| trials | Yes | The number of independent trials.10 |
| probability_s | Yes | The probability of success on each trial.0.5 |
| cumulative | Yes | A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, BINOM.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.false |
Try BINOM.DIST
Find the chance of exactly two successes
=BINOM.DIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)There are 6 ways to place two successes in four independent fair trials. Each sequence has probability 1/16, so exactly two successes has probability 6/16.
