DBCS function
Changes half-width (single-byte) English letters or katakana within a character string to full-width (double-byte) characters
The Japanese-width conversion in this worksheet includes Latin letters, digits, spaces, kana punctuation and voiced/half-voiced katakana. It retains unrelated Unicode compatibility characters. Native Excel conversion depends on language settings; native locale compatibility remains unverified.

Expand a mixed label to full-width Japanese forms
=DBCS(A2)DBCS expands half-width Latin, digits and spaces, and combines the half-width カ plus its voicing mark into ガ. Existing full-width text is retained. This Japanese conversion is useful for reading older imports; do not confuse text width with UTF-8 storage size. Native Excel behavior depends on language settings.
