GAMMAINV function
Returns the inverse of the gamma cumulative distribution. If p = GAMMADIST(x,...), then GAMMAINV(p,...) = x. You can use this function to study a variable whose distribution may be skewed.
Syntax
GAMMAINV(probability, alpha, beta)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| probability | Yes | Required. The probability associated with the gamma distribution.0.068094 |
| alpha | Yes | Required. A parameter to the distribution.9 |
| beta | Yes | Required. A parameter to the distribution. If beta = 1, GAMMAINV returns the standard gamma distribution.2 |
Try GAMMAINV
Read the legacy GAMMAINV function name
=GAMMAINV(A2,B2,C2)GAMMAINV is the compatibility name corresponding to GAMMA.INV. A gamma distribution with shape 1 is exponential. With scale 2, its CDF reaches 1-EXP(-1) at x=2, so the inverse returns 2. Use the modern name when creating a new formula; the old spelling is useful when reading existing workbooks.
