MODE function

Let's say you want to find out the most common number of bird species sighted in a sample of bird counts at a critical wetland over a 30-year time period, or you want to find out the most frequently occurring number of phone calls at a telephone support center during off-peak hours. To calculate the mode of a group of numbers, use the MODE function.

Try MODE

Read the legacy MODE function name

=MODE(2,2,5)

MODE is the compatibility name corresponding to MODE.SNGL. Find a repeated numeric value. The result is checked against a separately authored expected value for the supplied table. You can edit the data to explore the rule. Use the modern name when creating a new formula; the old spelling is useful when reading existing workbooks.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

Read the formula, one argument at a time

Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.
