PERCENTOF function
Measure a subset as a share of a complete set.
Sum the subset and divide it by the sum of the complete set. A zero denominator produces a division error. The supplied local example is checked independently; native Excel availability depends on the installed version.
Syntax
PERCENTOF(data_subset, data_all)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| data_subset | Yes | Values whose share of the total is required. |
| data_all | Yes | All values making up the denominator. |
Try PERCENTOF
Keep an undefined zero-net share as a typed error
=PERCENTOF(A2:A2,A2:A3)The subset sum is 10 but the denominator sum is 10-10=0. The share is undefined, so the result is a real #DIV/0! error. It is not a measured zero share or an error-looking text label.
