PROB function
Returns the probability that values in a range are between two limits
Syntax
PROB(x_range, prob_range, lower_limit, [upper_limit])Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| x_range | Yes | The range of numeric values of x with which there are associated probabilities.A1:A4 |
| prob_range | Yes | A set of probabilities associated with values in x_range.B1:B4 |
| lower_limit | Yes | The lower bound on the value for which you want a probability.1 |
| upper_limit | No | The upper bound on the value for which you want a probability.3 |
Try PROB
Add probabilities over an inclusive value range
=PROB(A2:A4,B2:B4,2,3)Outcomes 2 and 3 have probabilities 0.5 and 0.3, totalling 0.8. The supplied probabilities sum to 1 and match the outcome range one for one.
Inspect the current formula

PROB · top-level call
=PROB(A2:A4,B2:B4,2,3)1 / 4 · x_range
The range of numeric values of x with which there are associated probabilities.
