T.DIST function
Returns the probability for the Student t-distribution
Syntax
T.DIST(x, degFreedom, cumulative)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| x | Yes | The numeric value at which to evaluate the distribution8 |
| degFreedom | Yes | An integer indicating the number of degrees of freedom.3 |
| cumulative | Yes | A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, T.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true |
Try T.DIST
Use the Cauchy identity for a t-distribution CDF
=T.DIST(A2,B2,TRUE)At one degree of freedom the t distribution is Cauchy: its CDF is 0.5+ATAN(t)/PI(). At t=1 this equals 0.75.
