Group selected PivotTable items

The Office and Warehouse labels in a Location PivotTable should become one Facilities group.

Start here: Windows desktop PivotTable; compatible items selected in a row or column field

Grouping availability depends on the source and selected values. Do not use the worksheet row-group command as a substitute. This documentation review does not supply a Mac binding.

Follow these instructions in your own desktop Excel workbook. This page explains the operation; it does not send commands to Excel.

Mac keys and context

Open the selected PivotTable items context menu, then choose Group. Worksheet outlining is a different operation.

This catalog has no verified Mac binding for this operation. The steps below describe Windows. Choose Windows to use the walkthrough and recall controls.

Walk through the operation

  1. Select the Office and Warehouse item labels inside the PivotTable.
  2. Press Shift+F10, release the keys, then press G.
  3. If your selected value type opens grouping options, review those options before accepting.

Expected result: The selected compatible items are grouped in the PivotTable; source records are retained.
