PivotTables · original practice scenario

Ungroup PivotTable items

A Facilities group combines Office and Warehouse; the report now needs the separate locations.

Start here: Windows desktop PivotTable; an item inside an existing group is selected

Start inside the existing group. An ordinary worksheet selection has a different context menu. The Mac binding remains unlisted.

Follow these instructions in your own desktop Excel workbook. This page explains the operation; it does not send commands to Excel.

Mac keys and context

The context-menu Ungroup action removes PivotTable grouping. It does not delete underlying source records.

This catalog has no verified Mac binding for this operation. The steps below describe Windows. Choose Windows to use the walkthrough and recall controls.

Walk through the operation

  1. Select an item within the Facilities group in the PivotTable.
  2. Press Shift+F10, release the keys, then press U.
  3. Review the resulting item labels before using the report.

Expected result: The PivotTable presents the ungrouped items again.
