EXPON.DIST function
Returns the exponential distribution
Syntax
EXPON.DIST(x, lambda, cumulative)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| x | Yes | The value at which you want to evaluate the distribution.0.2 |
| lambda | Yes | The parameter value.10 |
| cumulative | Yes | A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, EXPON.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true |
Try EXPON.DIST
Find a waiting-time cumulative probability
=EXPON.DIST(A2,B2,TRUE)For rate 0.5, the probability of waiting at most 2 time units is 1-EXP(-0.5*2). The mean waiting time is 1/rate, or 2 units.
