GAMMADIST function

Returns the gamma distribution. You can use this function to study variables that may have a skewed distribution. The gamma distribution is commonly used in queuing analysis.

Syntax

GAMMADIST(x, alpha, beta, cumulative)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
xYesRequired. The value at which you want to evaluate the distribution.10
alphaYesRequired. A parameter to the distribution.8
betaYesRequired. A parameter to the distribution. If beta = 1, GAMMADIST returns the standard gamma distribution.2
cumulativeYesRequired. A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, GAMMADIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true

Try GAMMADIST

Read the legacy GAMMADIST function name

=GAMMADIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)

GAMMADIST is the compatibility name corresponding to GAMMA.DIST. With shape 2 and scale 3, density at x=2 is 2*EXP(-2/3)/9. FALSE selects a density, which is not the probability of one exact continuous value. Use the modern name when creating a new formula; the old spelling is useful when reading existing workbooks.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

GAMMADIST · top-level call

=GAMMADIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)

1 / 4 · x

Required. The value at which you want to evaluate the distribution.
