GAMMADIST function
Returns the gamma distribution. You can use this function to study variables that may have a skewed distribution. The gamma distribution is commonly used in queuing analysis.
Syntax
GAMMADIST(x, alpha, beta, cumulative)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| x | Yes | Required. The value at which you want to evaluate the distribution.10 |
| alpha | Yes | Required. A parameter to the distribution.8 |
| beta | Yes | Required. A parameter to the distribution. If beta = 1, GAMMADIST returns the standard gamma distribution.2 |
| cumulative | Yes | Required. A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, GAMMADIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function.true |
Try GAMMADIST
Read the legacy GAMMADIST function name
=GAMMADIST(A2,B2,C2,FALSE)GAMMADIST is the compatibility name corresponding to GAMMA.DIST. With shape 2 and scale 3, density at x=2 is 2*EXP(-2/3)/9. FALSE selects a density, which is not the probability of one exact continuous value. Use the modern name when creating a new formula; the old spelling is useful when reading existing workbooks.
