Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

calculation_or_name3No · repeatsOne of the following: 1.A calculation that uses all names within the LET function. The last argument in the LET function must be a calculation. 2.A third name to assign to a third name_value. If a name is specified, name_value3 and calculation_or_name4 become required.SUM(x,y)

Try LET

Give a price calculation readable local names

=LET(unitPrice,A2,quantity,B2,unitPrice*quantity)

LET binds unitPrice to 12 and quantity to 4, then multiplies them to give 48. These names belong to this formula; they do not create workbook-level named ranges.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

Read the formula, one argument at a time

Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.

LET · top-level call

=LET(unitPrice,A2,quantity,B2,unitPrice*quantity)

1 / 5 · name 1

Declare a local name for the following value. This name is not a worksheet cell reference.
