ISOMITTED function
Check whether a LAMBDA argument was omitted.
A supplied zero, FALSE, empty text, blank-cell reference or error is present. Use IF with ISOMITTED to define a default. The browser also supports bracketed trailing optional declarations, local forwarding, captured values and array results on the checked cases. Native Excel versions and complete omission/coercion compatibility remain unverified.
Syntax
ISOMITTED(argument)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| argument | Yes | The value you want to test, such as a LAMBDA parameter.value |
Try ISOMITTED
Supply a default for an omitted LAMBDA parameter
=LAMBDA(value,extra,IF(ISOMITTED(extra),value,value+extra))(A2,)The trailing comma deliberately omits extra. ISOMITTED detects that missing LAMBDA argument, so the formula returns 7. Passing 0 is an actual argument and also gives 7 here; it does not mean that ISOMITTED(0) is TRUE. An ordinary empty worksheet cell and an omitted parameter are different cases.
Inspect the current formula
Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.
Read the formula, one argument at a time
Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.
ISOMITTED · inside IF
=LAMBDA(value,extra,IF(ISOMITTED(extra),value,value+extra))(A2,)Follow the cells behind a result
Read explicit local references and helper formulas using a separate calculation. Your draft stays in this field; the worksheet and practice checks do not change.
The worksheet runs locally. Published checks apply to the supplied example only. Native Excel and Google Sheets compatibility remain unverified.
