ISOMITTED function

Check whether a LAMBDA argument was omitted.

A supplied zero, FALSE, empty text, blank-cell reference or error is present. Use IF with ISOMITTED to define a default. The browser also supports bracketed trailing optional declarations, local forwarding, captured values and array results on the checked cases. Native Excel versions and complete omission/coercion compatibility remain unverified.

Syntax

ISOMITTED(argument)

Square brackets indicate optional arguments.

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredMeaning
argumentYesThe value you want to test, such as a LAMBDA parameter.value

Try ISOMITTED

Keep a captured rate while applying an optional adjustment

=LET(rate,A3,calc,LAMBDA(value,[extra],value*rate+IF(ISOMITTED(extra),5,extra)),HSTACK(calc(A2),calc(A2,0)))

The local calc function captures rate from A3=3. Its base calculation is 7*3=21. An omitted extra adds the default 5, giving 26; an explicitly supplied zero keeps 21. Editing A3 explores another rate, and reset restores the original checked source.

Inspect the current formula

Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.

Read the formula, one argument at a time

Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.

ISOMITTED · inside IF

=LET(rate,A3,calc,LAMBDA(value,[extra],value*rate+IF(ISOMITTED(extra),5,extra)),HSTACK(calc(A2),calc(A2,0)))

1 / 1 · argument

The value you want to test, such as a LAMBDA parameter.

Follow the cells behind a result

Read explicit local references and helper formulas using a separate calculation. Your draft stays in this field; the worksheet and practice checks do not change.

The worksheet runs locally. Published checks apply to the supplied example only. Native Excel and Google Sheets compatibility remain unverified.
