ISOMITTED function
Check whether a LAMBDA argument was omitted.
A supplied zero, FALSE, empty text, blank-cell reference or error is present. Use IF with ISOMITTED to define a default. The browser also supports bracketed trailing optional declarations, local forwarding, captured values and array results on the checked cases. Native Excel versions and complete omission/coercion compatibility remain unverified.
Syntax
ISOMITTED(argument)Square brackets indicate optional arguments.
Arguments
| Argument | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|

Try ISOMITTED
Treat a supplied error as present and preserve its error type
=LET(calc,LAMBDA(value,[extra],IF(ISOMITTED(extra),value,extra)),HSTACK(calc(A2),calc(A2,NA()),ISOMITTED(NA())))The omitted call selects the default base 7. The second call supplies an actual NA() error, so the selected extra result remains a typed #N/A error. Testing that error with ISOMITTED returns FALSE: an error was supplied. The download retains the formula and its error cell.
Inspect the current formula
Read its written arguments or observe actual operation values in a separate local calculation. This action neither applies a draft nor grades an answer.
Read the formula, one argument at a time
Explore the written function calls and their inputs. The calculation result belongs to the complete formula.
ISOMITTED · inside IF
=LET(calc,LAMBDA(value,[extra],IF(ISOMITTED(extra),value,extra)),HSTACK(calc(A2),calc(A2,NA()),ISOMITTED(NA())))Follow the cells behind a result
Read explicit local references and helper formulas using a separate calculation. Your draft stays in this field; the worksheet and practice checks do not change.
The worksheet runs locally. Published checks apply to the supplied example only. Native Excel and Google Sheets compatibility remain unverified.
